Environmental Issues »
Wood is the only building material with a positive impact on the environment. A tree’s ability to absorb carbon monoxide and emit oxygen contributes positively towards the atmosphere. Within managed forests, more trees are planted than are used to meet the forward needs of production thereby avoiding any potential deforestation and maintaining a sustainable supply. The processing of timber is also low in energy consumption and has no toxic or negative side effects.
Timber is a natural material with inherent strength, easy to maintain & repair. At the end of its useful life it is readily recycled, is bio-degradable or can be used as alternative fuel.
Russell Timber Technology offer sustainable, certified timbers with an optimum lifespan, preserved with boron salts which have zero emission to air, land or water.
Energy Efficiency »
Reduction of emissions and associated costs can be achieved by using our highly energy efficient product range. Doors can achieve a u value of 0.6 and windows less than 1.0 depending on glazing options. All materials used, including insulation, are benign with zero ODP and GWP<5.
